Standardized tests are crucial in the college application process, providing a common measure to compare students’ academic abilities. They help colleges assess readiness for higher education and are a key factor in admissions decisions.
These tests complement other application components, offering an objective metric that can differentiate applicants with similar qualifications. Strong test scores can also lead to scholarships and advanced course placements, reducing the financial burden of college.
Although standardized test are very important, they are not by any means the central part of your application. During Covid many schools became test optional, and although most still do not require a standardized test for applicants, few do still require them and most of the time a good test score can be a good proof of your academic potentail.

The cost of these tests can often times be a barrier, as well as the tutoring services needed to score highly, many of which can cost thousands of dollars. Many organizations offer fee wavers that you can apply for in advance, like the SAT and ACT. Uni Skyline offers grants for these tests to the grant winning applicant who could not get a fee waver from the test takers. In addition, we are also offering grants for the tutoring services needed.
